    Players compatible with QTScrobbler

    Hi!

Sorry for this dumb question, I didn't find any list on the net about QTScrobbler supported portable mp3 players. As now I'm going to buy a new one, it would be nice if I could buy a last.fm compatible one - so I have to know which one suits me.

Thanks for your help in advance,
    NZs

QTScrobbler supports 3 methods of accessing the information about the tracks you've listened to, which in turn defines 3 types of players:

    1. Rockbox replacement firmware - see their site for a list of supported players
    2. Apple Ipods - there have been reports that the Touch and iPhone don't work?
    3. MTP - aka Microsofts Plays for Sure standard.

These are in the order of best supported (by QTScrob) to worst. MTP has only been tested with a handful of players so far.

Windows or Linux/OS X? Have you ever seen that with any other MTP management tools?

  • With my iRiver E100 it does not work. Nothing happens when I click the "Open MTP Device" button. It is connected indeed.

  • When reporting success or failure with MTP devices please include information about Operating System you're using, because MTP handling code actually uses different backends on Linux/OS X (libmtp) and Windows (Windows Media Format 11 SDK).

And from my observations, it works fine under Windows with Sansa Connect, but gives problems in Linux.

Sansa c250 v1 works fine both under Windows and Linux, same goes for Sansa e280 v1. But those two players are supported by rockbox, hence it's rather obsolete information ;)

I think it'll work with both (using MTP), but the only way to be sure is to try it.

  • Yes, my friend did. It doesn't work, but I'm starting to think that sony walkmans don't save playcount sadly, because nothing works. And otherwise QT works like a charm. It's very fast for scrobbling the ipod :)

It may work as-is, it may need a small code change, or it might not work at all. If anyone has a Zune it'd be interesting to find out.

  • great!

It's working great on my new Sony NWZ-A844. Brilliant. One click and over 200 tracks I listened since yesterday got on my profile :)

  • Does it work with Sony NWZ-B152F? Can somebody help me?!

    Cowon iAudio 9

I can confirm that the 64-bit 0.11 preview version of QTScrobbler works flawlessly with my Cowon iAudio 9 in MTP mode, on Windows 7 64-bit.
