And then it could go even deeper as to say that a person or group that was influential might not have been punks in anyway, maybe precursors, or inspirations to the movement itself.

For me persoanlly, the man in punk rock who has influenced me immensely was Joe Strummer. The way he wrote, the way he lived, the way he thought, he amazed me time and again.

Other bands have inlfuenced me greater I believe, with more politically charged lyrics or what have you, but, he was one of the first and has stuck with me the longest.
