I saw Martin Hayes and Denis Cahill play in Wellington a few weeks ago. I thought they were absolutely brilliant. Martin Hayes has an inimitable style - kind of a Stephan Grapeli swing mixed with the Clare fiddle lilt and lift. I love it. He played with a lot of energy - put his back into it - and was very engaging with the audience. Denis was cool too. I think maybe Martin is under-rated - I checked the Wellington Library and it had nothing by him.
