    Since there's a topic on scrobbling LPs, I figured it might be handy to have an overview on LPs that come with a download coupon or free CD. So if you have any of those, feel free to add them.

    I saw in a store a while ago a Lamb of God LP with a sticker that said it has a download coupon, but overall they're quite rare. But in my opinion it's a great idea, since nowadays 95% of my time I listen to either mp3 or vinyl. CD is going to disappear, but LP is going to stay due to collectors.

    Hmm, they're probably rare now, but my impression is that their numbers will be growing in the coming months and years.

  • I bought a vinyl copy of the Nadja/A Storm of Light split from aSoL at one of their shows recently, and they included a copy of the CD, which I thought was pretty cool. CDs are REALLY cheap to press, so it doesn't cost them much extra to give you a copy of the CD - not when you're paying for costly vinyl.

  • Why not rip your own vinyl instead? Turntables are relatively cheap and can be connected to a computer via USB these days. I rarely play my vinyl as they wear away over play, unlike CDs which lose their electro-magnetic charge and degrade over time. That way you can have the satisfaction of knowing you are listening to YOUR record, not some downloaded mp3's. And what are these bit-rates? You can rip your own at 320kbps if need be.

    And whoever said CDs are dead, I think you are a little crazy in saying that.

  • i bought a few records off the sub pop website a while ago and they were quite good with giving download codes. the singles club also gives you a download of the single.

    Civil Music is more dubstep, dance orientated and there's not much stuff there at the mnute! But free mp3's with vinyl records is the future!

  • I second that SubPop records (Iron & Wine) includes download coupons, and I also got one with a box set of Smiths 7" singles from Rhino.

    The new Depeche Mode LP included a free CD.
