Favorite Album From the 90s

  • Favorite Album From the 90s

    Mine would either be Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden or VS by Pearl Jam. Or (heh) The White Stripes self-titled debut, since it did indeed release in 1999. :D

    Winner's write the history books while Losers bury the dead.

    Oasis: (What's The Story) Morning Glory is the best for me.

  • I'll second that Siamese Dream nomination. In fact, I think it might be my favorite album of all time. There are *no* "skip this" tracks on there.

    "Siamese Dream" - The Pumpkins.

    For sure.

  • Re: klap25

    All fabulous choices! Well I guess we're a bit biased here, aren't we?

    Re: Counting Crows "August and Everything After"...is it just me or has this group really changed over the past few years? That album is so nostalgic for me, but I can't bear to listen to anything after it, and am not entirely sure why or if my distaste is justified/shared by others.

    counting crows

    yeah i still love the counting crows but no there more recent stuff is not up to par with their first 2 records. on desert life alot of songs are too long and they (the songs) not very good to begin with. but i still like to hear live recordings etc and i still appreciate the old stuff, but i know what you mean. ppl say the same thing about pearl jam (i think they are nuts )

  • ive narrowed it down to 5 albums i could choose.. dont make fun of them lol.

    marilyn manson - antichrist superstar
    nine inch nails - downward spiral (btw, pretty hate machine is from 1989)
    foo fighters - the colour and the shape
    blink 182 - enema of the state
    than i get to number 5 and i cant decide between RHCP, nirvana, radiohead, gnr, pearl jam, oasis, RATM, smashing pumpkins and yea its pretty much impossible since all i do is listen to music hahahahah. nothin wrong with that though. i got a wide taste, but you cant really tell with these choices.

  • Nine Inch Nails :: The Fragile
    Soundgarden :: Superunknown
    Korn :: Issues (made it in by about a month)
    Live :: Secret Samadhi
    The Tea Party :: Edges Of Twilight/Alhambra

    Just a few of the brilliant ones.

    "It's silly to be depressed by it. I mean, one thinks of it like being alive in a box. One keeps forgetting to take into account the fact that one is dead, which should make all the difference, shouldn't it? I mean, you'd never *know* you were in a box, would you? It would be just like you were asleep in a box. Not that I'd like to sleep in a box, mind you. Not without any air. You'd wake up dead for a start, and then where would you be? In a box. That's the bit I don't like, frankly. That's why I don't think of it. Because you'd be helpless, wouldn't you? Stuffed in a box like that. I mean, you'd be in there forever, even taking into account the fact that you're dead. It isn't a pleasant thought. Especially if you're dead, really. Ask yourself, if I asked you straight off, "I'm going to stuff you in this box. Now, would you rather be alive or dead?" naturally, you'd prefer to be alive. Life in a box is better than no life at all, I expect. You'd have a chance, at least. You could lie there thinking, "Well, at least I'm not dead. In a minute somebody is going to bang on the lid, and tell me to come out."

    It's interesting to find someone that prefers Secret Samadhi to Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper. I remember buying Secret Samadhi when it came out and kind of scratching my head. I think it's been all downhill for the group since then.
