  mashups have been ruined for me cuz of him... it was cool and intresting at first for like the first 3 songs on his first album.. but his album feed the animals is practically unlistenable seriously.... "hipsters" just find it funny and ironic that you could match up shit like jay z and radiohead... and i dont have anything better to do than to talk about how much this dude sucks as a musician and as a dj deal wit it...

  Trying to force your own opinion on someone else by swearing is generally pretty infantile. Personally I love Girl Talk and am going to see him again in a couple of weeks, but I understand if other people don't like him. What I don't understand is why, rather than having a good, provocative discussion about music, people jump straight in and start attacking each other. I think that mashup is a genre which is pretty much dismissed as an acceptable form of musical content or 'artistic expression'. To me its the 21st century version of rearranging chords to make a new song. Nothing is 'new' anymore, ideas are recycled, evolved versions of things that have been done before. I think people are quicker to jump on the mashup hating bandwagon because its easier to talk in terms of copyright infringement when actual parts of songs are being used as opposed to riffs or chords, and although I can play a few songs on the guitar, I could never make a Night Ripper.
