  i don't have an idea why i snouldn't buy shoes just becouse some people in china have 5cents for made it. if he don't made a nike or conv shoe he haven't that 5cents for food for him and his family. why it is wrong? you know, i mean that you shouldn't think "i work foor 10$ and some peoples work for 5cent it's bad and i will not buy this shoe" every country has other gov and you wouldn't change it by not buying nike shoe. my opinion, thanks

  Or we could just give the poor people in Africa good work conditions with worker unions, a decent payment and legit contracts. That was my idea. Since we're not in position to decide this, because we are the customers, we should use the powers of customers. Like informing about this situation, consuming sweatshop free products and thinking about boycotts for products that are still produced under such aweful conditions. Even a customer letter to a local company can change small things. That's what I have experienced.

  c4t2007: Doesn't make it better that companies from western countries establish new factories in Third World countries and close the old ones - and release the old employees. Also, it's hypocritic for Nike / Converse to promote Chucks within the Hardcore / Punk scene. Have you thought about those three points? Because workers in Third World contries don't have as much opportunities as in western countries dosn't legitimate the actions of western Sweatshop companies in Third World contries.

  Surely they can do other work that pays better. How about not working at all and just going to school? That costs money... Free education then? Books, water, and sunlight are cheap. Grandpa can help teach them to read as he's too old to do manual labor.
