    @Neue_regel_: Ayn Rand would've hated Rush Limbaugh. . .

    Well said mcc1200. People who self ascribe as liberals today are more often in favor of state intervention and form a false dichotomy between corporate businesses which they consider deregulated and in need of control and government which is the biggest corporation and delegates monopoly control into monopoly privilege. They don't understand the enforcement paradox and advocate for bigger government. The left right paradigm is the main source of the misuse of language, though statists tend to be gutless in general when you try to get them to defend their actions by principles.

    Phlunked - Liberalism is individualism. If you call a sort of Liberalism collectivist (and it deserves it) then it's not Liberalism at all. If you equal Liberalism to Marxism (I guess that you mean Communism, not the philosophical view that society and culture is based on means and relations of production) than you have some fucking problem, or you're American and are used to Socialists not having the guts to say who they really are.

    I hope everybody is doing well and finding ways to enjoy life without constantly getting sucked into media driven false dilemma debates and other time consuming nonsense. BTW, I've added the Plasmatics to the Libertarian connected artists and suggest they might be worthy of consideration here. Open to any suggestions as well.

    The point is a fact, that subjects like state emerged as a product of civilization, not as a reason. Firstly the primitive societies had to develop a system that allowed them to produce more than they can consume - and then the existence of states became possible. Actually it's somehow similar to a parasite, which takes more if you can produce more. It explains why etatism proliferated so widely in XX century, and what happened in III Reich and USSR - the parasite has simply grown too large :)

    Also, civilisation emerged by people acting the way they thought it was best for them. If that meant cooperating with others, then they did that. Not because of a "greater good" or from the altruism that is the most powerful force that drives everyone.

    There is no completely anyhing, things are never perfect. Could you give an example of a succesful completely collectivist society? I think not

    I missed the point? To me, it just looks like you're falling back on a chicken and egg argument because you have nowhere else to go. Why don't you give me an example of a successful completely non-collectivist society and we'll go from there?

    Hey, where did I mention libertatianism? Also, Sumer lead to the birth of civilisation? Sumer WAS a civilisation, it was already born, you missed the point. You do not need to tell how retarded objectivism is, because I myself do not know or care, I've never read anything by Rand.

    Also, you have Ayn Rand in your connected artists. Do I even have to tell you how retarded objectivism is?

    Sumer was one of the earliest examples of a centralised city-state with division of labour and it lead to the birth of civilisation. And where exactly did I mention communism? It was a collectivist theocracy, if anything.

    An organised state is not always a collectivist entity. Did you think the Sumerians were communists or something?

    That is pretty much how it worked, yeah. Leaders built civilisation. Did you think the Sumerians were libertarians or something?
