    Unable to Scrobble

Hello, I have been unable to scrobble for over a month now. I've followed the FAQ and the sticky up on the top of this forum. My firewall (NOD32 Smart Security) is allowing LastFM.exe to access the internet, and I even tried disabling the firewall to see if it can access the servers. Instead, the diagnostics always show "Submission Server Status: Error: Could not reach server." Last.FM has been caching all the music I've been listening to, however.

My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit and I'm using Winamp as my primary media player, but I also have iTunes set up for scrobbling.

    Last.FM version - 1.5.2.38918
    iTunes plugin version - 3.0.1.0
    Winamp plugin version - 2.1.0.9

Any solutions that could help solve my problem? Thanks.

If the software is continuing to cache all your music, try one of the following:

    1) Try restarting the client to see if this submits any cached songs
    2) Clicking your username under the 'account' tab
    3) Or try re-installing the client, delete the software and all related folders then install the latest version over at http://www.last.fm/download/

If you have to reinstall you should still be able to save the cached tracks (gamer007_submissions.xml, in XP it's in C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\Local settings\Application Data\Last.fm\Client). So try and save it somewhere, and if you get it to work after reinstalling, try placing it back where you took it from and if it still works, you shouldn't have lost any scrobbles.

But hopefully you won't have to reinstall.

Same here, even after I did the things laimee said. After the re-install I listened to this one track to test it, and here is the "Copy to Clipboard" text:

    ----

    Last successful connection: Unknown

Submission Server: Error: Could not reach server
    1 cached tracks:

Eyes Set to Kill : Darling : Reach

    Radio Server: OK

    ---

And oh, my problem just started this morning so I don't know if it will be just temporary or something. We'll see.

EDIT: Radio works, and adding loved tracks. So, it's just the scrobbling.

EDIT2: Okay, I just changed my password on this site again, to the same password it already was, and it started working. Something wrong about the password systems?

Yup, for some reason if you change your pass the system throws a bit of a wobbly until you change it back. Am not sure if there is a protocol to actually change it and keep it changed, will have to wait for a reply from an actual staff member methinks.

If it's reverting back to the old password then this is another issue that we're looking into. Window users can try:

    - Opening the last.fm folder in your file explorer
    - Find and launch a program called "cleaner" in the last.fm directory, it will to wipe all last.fm data (be aware this will wipe cached tracks too, if you have some)
    - In the last.fm client in "accounts" click on "add user" and enter your info in again

This should synch the local user data with the ones stored on our servers.

You can also try heading over to www.last.fm/settings/password and change your password again, open the software options and enter your new password then click APPLY and wait for the settings to save successfully (the window should refresh submitting any cached scrobbles)

    it worked

I've been having this problem (Submission Server: Error: Could not reach server) on 2 out of 3 computers.

Changing password did not work, but running cleaner.exe and adding user back into the client worked. Thanks!

    The problem is solved

I've got the same problem, and here is the solution, for me:

For submitting the cached tracks, first change the password to the old password (when the scrobbler was OK) http://www.last.fm/settings/password.
In Help -> Diagnostics you will see Submission server status: OK.

    Then
Close the Last.fm scrobbler (File -> Exit).
Go to the installation folder (Last.fm) and execute the Cleaner.exe (the cached tracks will be deleted).
Go to http://www.last.fm/settings/password and change the old password to the new password.
Start the Last.fm scrobbler, it will ask you for your username and password. Write your username and the new password. Click Next.
Don't install none of the plugins. Finish the process.

    That's it.
