    me too :-)))

  • ditto! Get to it please!

"What's the blue's, when you've got the greys?"
  • Definitely gonna second this.

I listen to music on my phone for a good few hours while commuting and studying every day. I often also listen to different music at home and on the phone, so right now my list is probably skewed towards electronic artists, whereas most of my phone music is rock and alternative.

Not sure how the app would work - sync when connected to a computer OR sync by connecting over WAP or 3G OR constantly uploading info to the net?

i found this http://build.last.fm/item/367 but it doesn't work on my sony ericsson k800i

and yeah i agree there should be a working sony ericsson scrobbler, to be honest i mostly listen to music on my phone/mp3.

  • Strands Social Player supposedly scrobbles to Last.fm on the following Sony Ericsson Models:

    C702, C902, D750, D750i, G502, G700, G900, K310, K320i, K510i, K530i, K550i, K600, K600i, K608i, K610, K610i, K618i, K630, K660i, K750, K750i, K770, K790a, K790i, K800i, K850i, P990i, S500i, S700i, T650i, V600, V600i, V630i, W200a, W200i, W300, W300i, W350, W380, W550c, W550i, W600i, W660i, W700i, W710i, W760, W800i, W810i, W850i, W880i, W890i, W900i, W950i, W960, Z310i, Z530i, Z550i, Z555, Z558i, Z610i, Z710i, Z750

Having said that I can't get it to work on my W850i, it keeps freezing on 'building library'.

  • This is very timely...

I'm developing a J2ME-based MP3 player/scrobbler at the moment. I've got it playing and scrobbling (over 3G/WAP mobile internet) in a fairly stable fashion on my W890i already. It doesn't look that pretty and is buggy but I'm trying to get more stuff working on it. I'm going to test it on a W810i as well, but I don't have any other devices to hand that I can test on at the moment.

I've created the forum below if anyone is interested in joining...?

  • Sounds good senor_tocadisco. I have a W850i, so if you'd like me to help test it on that let me know. How would the scrobble submitting work? Would that be chargeable from my network given that I'm not on a data plan? There is a limit to how much cost I would want to endure just to get my phone to scrobble.

  • The scrobbling works by submitting over HTTP through your network's mobile internet, so as it stands, it would go against whatever internet charges/data plan you've got on your billing plan. I'm going to be interested to see what my bill comes in at next month....!

I'm thinking about having an option for locally stored scrobbles that can then be submitted when pairing up to a PC. I'd say that's quite a way off though! My main interest at the in what J2ME can do in terms of playing media, HTTP connections, etc, etc.

I'm trying to get a version that I can distribute in a limited fashion for some testing and feedback. I'd say its a couple of weeks off, but I'll keep you posted...

  • I'd love that! I've just started using my c902 as a dedicated mp3 player. Used to use an ipod mini with rockbox which let me upload a last.fm.log file which was really handy. Anything like that would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.

    Thanks mate!

Me and my W910i would love that. ;> Especially if you could upload what you've already listened too. That way I'll get artists I don't have now because my computer crashed at one point.

that would be the one option that would make me use your tool. I won't pay internet fees for my mobile, so the "work offline" option would be greatly appreciated.

I'd prefer a scrobbler that works with the original walkman-app. But I guess SonyEricsson needs to open their API first to do something like that...

    No luck just yet

I installed the Strands Social Player on my W850i and managed to validate my Last.fm account, however just like stuartsjm I had no luck in building my music library either :-(

Then I installed Mobscrob. It starts up fine, but when I select an option it does nothing. It doesn't even exit the appplication.

I'd love this, coz I listen to most of my music on my W910i, I'd also prefer the off-line, download using some kind of log.

  • I wanted it to fit in my w980i :(

Yeah. I have absolutely no clue about these kind of things but I can´t believe it´s so difficult to program something like you say. I´d love it!!!

Linux users might want to check this neat app out: http://www.lastfm.de/group/Linux/forum/34522/_/515638

If you connect your walkman phone to your pc via MTP, you can scrobble the tracks you've listened using the built-in walkman app.

I installed the Strands Social Player too, and thought I had the same problem, but then I decided to wait. So I waited, and waited... and waited... and after a looooong time, it finished building my library (and I only had 3 albums on my phone, so if you have 4 gb of music, you'll probably have to leave it there building for a few years, lol).

And it works great! Scrobbles as you're listening... live! :D

    Good luck!

    w350i

I got this cheap but cheerful phone recently and was surprised and disappointed in equal measure to find theres no last.fm app/widget for! Please someone, remedy this oversight!

  • I also downloaded Strands Social Player but it just doesn't want to work! It's telling me that my last.fm account/password are invalid even though i've typed them both back in about a hundred times! Anyone else had a similar problem?

  • Also, does anyone know if support still exists for this app? It seems to ahve disappeared off the net and be replaced by Strands.com
