Songs from heavily banned Artist are played constantly

    Hi,

I have in total 27 banned tracks from a certain artist ("Promiseland", sometimes spelled "PromiseLand"). Nevertheless, last.fm often plays (not-yet-banned) tracks from that artist.

Is this some bug? I think last.fm should understand by now that I really do not like that kind of music.

    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Ban 28 just arrived.

  • about the bug: staff needs to investigate

but until this is fixed, you can use this approach:
    1. use The Last.fm Mass Tagger
    2. input the artist + search for their tracks + then use the ban-button

Besides having my 29th track in the list of banned tracks now, I see the difference between "Promiseland" and "PromiseLand". The artist "PromiseLand" makes (in my opinion) good house music, e.g. "Wrong" (cf. http://mukki.org/music/promiseland-wrong-366158_5855675-web-2011-xxw-77134). I might even have marked a track using the "Love" button.

The artist "Promiseland" makes church themed music, cf. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/promiseland4.

Somehow tracks from "Promiseland" are also shown as "PromiseLand", I guess last.fm really cannot distinguish the two artists, which is part of the bug.

  • Banning a track will only ban the track, not the artist. Are you hearing previously banned tracks?

You have three plays from PromiseLand in your library.
    http://www.last.fm/user/C-Otto/library/music/Promiseland?sortOrder=desc&sortBy=plays

Even a single play from an artist in your will cause them to be played on the radio, regardless of bans. The site sees it in your library and thinks you like it.
(At least, that's what I remember reading elsewhere in the forums...)

Knapster01: For this artist I do not hear tracks that were banned. However, I think it would be a good idea to ban an artist if (in my case) 30 tracks have been banned. Maybe this already is the idea, but I encounter a bug.

big_dork: Thanks, I deleted three of those. The fourth entry is from another band (capital L) and I actually like that track (see above).
