After spending a number of years in the scene pushing Blues Rock Roots and Stoner tunes from a muso, booker and promoter angle, we thought it was time to bring together our favourite bands from all around Australia and put on one weekend of sick high-energy entertainment.
Mojo Burning aims to bring bands together who might be somewhat flying under the radar commercially, but all of whom in their own right are working hard, touring hard, playing hard and generating their own pockets of success.
We're not in this for the money. We're not in this for the fame. We're in this to promote the music we like and bring a bunch of rad bands and fans together to experience something 'outside the box' and awesome.
We aim to provide a positive cultural force for musicians in the Blues, Rock, Roots and Stoner genres and help change industry and consumer perceptions to help these acts rise to the top and actually make a comfortable living in their art.
MOJO BURNING FESTIVAL will bring together 20 bands from all over the land and put them on 3 stages at the New Globe Theatre in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. We've got a Main Stage with solid capacity, a Front Bar Stage which will be nice and TIGHT and a 3rd Cinema Club Stage which is a seated stage. We'll also be dropping a couple of movies on this stage in between bands if you need some MOJO REPLENISHMENT TIME.
On Sunday March 16 we will kick open the doors of the New Globe Theatre again at 2pm for a SUNDAY RECOVERY! 4 of the Festival's bands will back up and play a Front Bar Stage show to give everyone a chance to unwind and get right amongst it. Sunday lineup to be announced at a later date. If you purchase a Fest ticket the Recovery is FREE ENTRY, otherwise it's $10 on the door.
We are also planning a range of MOJO BURNING SIDESHOWS from the Sunshine Coast down to Byron Bay over the week of the Festival to help get some coin into the travelling band's pockets. We're working out the finer details at present and will announce the sideshows soon. Stay tuned and stay classy.
