Chilling in the shade of the BRT Stage to Dappled Cities is an acquired pastime, Tim Derricourt and Dave Rennick’s voices being pure sonic honey. An upbeat track from the Sydney indie royalty’s forthcoming new album hints at a more conventional indie-pop direction, however fails to dislodge the still-gorgeous Wooden Ships and The Price from their ‘firm-favourite’ pedestal.
With the vast majority of punters at TV On The Radio, PVT could certainly do with more crowd numbers – yet that doesn’t detract the Pikes and Dave Miller from doing their much-admired math/electronic-rock thing from the BRT Stage. Window reminds us that the trio have lost none of their inventiveness and calling card O Soundtrack My Heart is ever-powerful.
As the sun begins to set, Londoners Death In Vegas make for a perfect seated-on-the-grass listening with their lysergic grooves. The opening double of Your Loft My Acid and Girls is sublime (even with the latter stripped of its angelic choir)…
