Those whining about the organisation should have been at Field Day yesterday, it was a joke. All told at ATP, there was a crowd control system, plenty of bars and organised queue to get in, enough female toilets and decent sound. I'd rather have to queue for food than a wee.

Godspeed was my main reason for taking the trip to England. And it was awesome. But the experience of Swans live ended up being the highlight of the festival for me, mindblowing.

Ha ha - the crowd traffic system was an absolute joke - I mean fair enough if you want to guide people a certain way, but don't keep changing it! But musically I loved the weekend. Company Flow, Portishead, The Books, Godspeed, Acoustic Ladyland, Grinderman were all fantastic. The only real disappointment was Doom, but you can't have everything.

I've never seen so many disabled people and lesbians at one event before.

This was our first portishead live performance..what I have to say? They FUCKING ROCK!!! Grinderman is an insane man and we loved him! Hope to see him as soon as possible! Anika disappointed us a lot! A bad performance, get off the stage without any "thank you" to few people which have attended her! Goodspeed were good...I agree with who have written that 'the passion of jouan of arc' was one of the best things of the weekend! Will gregory and adrian utley are pure genius

Oh, and Godspeed were really good. Especially when I was like "Oh, I know how that song goes, I listened to this a thousand times when I was in middle school". And suddenly everything could be played in a different way. Sadly, there was too much light, but whatever. Wasn't really sure what to expect from Telescopes, and I was a little shocked about the vocalist's druggy behaviour; everytime he succeeded reaching to the mic, I was sighing. Kinda gave me the blues, but the sound was pretty jivin'. Grinderman were damn fun. O'Malley/Moore didn't impress me musically, but the movie was great. Beach House's Victoria is cute. Caribou's "Sun" was indeed the perfect ending of the event, leaving me in happier condition than EMOTIONAL WRECK after rather sad vibes of Saturday.

Swans were fucking incredible. There is a huge difference beetween just fucking around with a guitar making noises and doing a precise, draining wall-of-sound symphony. For me, it was actually about creating a totally new feeling beetween sound and mind (and body; do the giradance). Big words, but seriously, reactivated Swans is the best band I've ever seen live. Not that everyone must appreciate this.

Somebody behind me casually lit up a joint during DOOM's set. Very pleasant.

Yeah, the crowd could be quite inconsiderate of acts they weren't there for - something which you absolutely don't get at Minehead. lol at someone saying that because of the organisation they wished they hadn't gone though - was the fucking incredible music not enough to make you glad you went?

Thanks to everyone that attended I'll Be Your Mirror London - this was our first Alexandra Palace fest & we realise there were teething problems, in particular food queues & confusion regarding the crowd traffic system - and we sincerely apologise for that and hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment of what was otherwise a fantastic weekend. We'd love to get your feedback so please follow the link for how to send it: http://www.atpfestival.com/events/ibymportishead/news/1107261049.php

A really enjoyable weekend though I feel a bit like I have been through an endurance test... (There is something to be said for sitting on the grass at a festival rather than between patches of spilt drink.) Still, many amazing moments - Beak> were a pleasant surprise, but Godspeed were probably the stand out performance. Completely forgot how good they were...

The Passion of Joan of Arc soundtrack was absolutely fantastic; one of the best things of the weekend. (The fact that it's one of my favourite films did not hurt.) Also Helen Money was a great surprise. I agree with the person below who said it felt like an event where people showed up just to see a certain band, rather than the music obsessive Minehead atmosphere. In particular, I think a lot of people just came for DOOM and Company Flow on Saturday. "(Swans) soon descended into them pissing about with guitar pedals for an hour." <-- LOL

Oh and DD/MM/YYYY were really fun and of course Caribou was a great way to end the weekend. Some gripes - the door system, the lack of food stalls which resulted in ridiculous queues, the price of everything. But music wise it was great and I was worried by it being at Ally Pally, I was pleasantly surprised with it.

Portishead better on the Saturday night, when they were incredible. DOOM was really great fun, but Company Flow were the best hip hop act of the weekend, really awesome. Grinderman were fantastic (a lot better than when I saw them at Primavera). Same applies to PJ Harvey. And of course Godspeed were awesome. Liars didn't suit that stage and the sound was really bad for them. Beach House played the perfect afternoon set.

I thought Swans were a bit shit. Their first two songs were good, and two of the best songs from the new album, but it soon descended into them pissing about with guitar pedals for an hour. Other than Portishead, who were practically perfect apart from numerous failings of Chase the Tear, Grinderman were probably the standout act. Doom was pretty good, but not amazing. PJ Harvey wasn't really suited to the venue. Liars played well, but the sound was pretty bad. And Beach House were really good, actually. There were a few niggles here and there in terms of the actual event, but I really hope it's on again next year. Certainly beats the thought of Minehead (even though I'd really like to go to one of those one day).

I was right at the front for swans and had only heard their most recent album (which is more post-rock than noise-rock/drone), so it was a lot louder than I anticipated and most of the people around us had earplugs. As for Portishead, I thought it was a pretty stellar performance- they rightly culled most of their second album in favour of stuff from "Third" and the selections from the first album were all just right, apart from the omission of "strangers" which i think is their best track.
