Haiku Salut
We're very pleased and proud to present the launch party for Haiku Salut's second album, "Etch And Etch Deep". The follow up to their critically-acclaimed 2013 debut, "Tricolore", the new album sees the Derbyshire trio melt their folk, classical and electronic influences to create a sound that's both inventive and inquisitive, at times more boldly pop, at others startlingly impressionistic. The opening track on the album, "Bleak And Beautiful (All Things)" was called "uniquely stunning" by The Line Of Best Fit, who said: "this tune merges worlds and genres with callous disregard for adhering to the norm. We see techno and minimalist beats coalesce with trad folk melodies; pastoral pop pirouette with carnival-noir accordions, tinkling glocks and ambient synths. It's instrumental post-folk that isn't afraid to tear up the rulebook and begin fresh," while the album itself was hailed as a "vividly coloured sonic canvas" by Popmatters. It's a wonderful, wonderful record and we're looking forward to celebrating its launch at the Hangover Lounge.

Owl & Mouse
You wait all year for the launch of a superb album and then two come along at once. July also sees the release of the long-awaited debut album by Owl & Mouse. Formed initially as a solo project for Australian singer-songwriter Hannah Botting, the sister of Bill Botting of Allo Darlin', Owl & Mouse quickly grew into a fully-fledged band, with the addition of sister Jen on backing vocals, Tom on vocals and bass, Emma on keyboards, and Dan on violin. Hannah's early songs were simple, heart-stopping compositions featuring just her gorgeous voice and a strummed ukulele, but Owl & Mouse's 2012 single on Hangover Lounge, "Canvas Bags", announced the arrival of a more ambitious and affecting group, with a deeper understanding of arrangement and harmony. The five piece's debut album, "Departures", sees them continue this journey, with opening single "Worst Kiss" building to a crescendo of cello, brass.and lush harmonies. We've followed this band since their inception and we're overjoyed to see them blossom into such a magnificent group.

Two White Cranes
You wait all year for the launch of a superb album and then...hang on, wait...what? Three albums?? Oh yes - Bristol-based singer-songwriter Rozy Brennan has writing beautiful pop songs for a few years now, playing with The Mountain Parade, The Nervy Betters, Trust Fund and Grubs to name just a few. She also performs as a solo artist under the name Two White Cranes and released her self-titled debut on the peerless stitch-stich label in November 2014. Less than a year later, she's ready with the follow up, "Raddison Blue", which comes out on CD on stitch-stitch and on tape on Oddbox on August 1st. Featuring Dan Howard and Joanna Gruesome's Owen Williams, the album's lead single, "So Much Water, So Close To Home" takes its name from a Raymond Carver short story and marries inventive stripped back indie rock with Roxy's mesmerising voice, weaving an evocative tales as it goes. We're looking forward to hearing more from the album on the 11th.
