Descrizione
Don't miss The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir triumphant return to Washington, D.C. as they commemorate the birthdays of three classical music giants. Their program will include works by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (150 years), and two Estonian composers: Arvo Pärt (80 years) and Veljo Tormis (85 years). With the New York Times calling the ensemble “first rate," The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir has stunned audiences with supreme clarity, power, and purity of tone.
Their May 2014 appearance at the Kennedy Center drew 2,400 concert goers and rave reviews, with Anne Midgette of The Washington Post saying “Nor does it happen every day that an audience gets to hear such stunning performances…” and “It was … an extravagant gift to an audience that, representing all ranges of age and sartorial taste, greeted it with the ardor of a rock-concert crowd, whooping and clapping and holding up cellphones to capture videos of the performers’ bows when the music had finished.”
This concert is presented as part of the Serenade! International Choral Series: Bringing the World to Washington, D.C
