Descrizione

'Notes on: Death' is the much anticipated second album from an extraordinary British talent and the second in a trilogy that began with 2005's critically acclaimed 'Notes On: Love'.

Joining Petra Jean on this album are long time collaborator Simon Tong (The Verve, Gorillaz, Erland and the Carnival, The Good, the Bad & the Queen), Nell Catchpole (Brian Eno & Noisettes), Tim Harries (Steeleye Span, Hofesh), Seb Rochford (Polar Bear) & Fred Lyenn Jacques. The results are dark, sensual, immersive and sometimes confrontational. Phillipson's songs explore notions of womanhood, sex, politics and death and are powered by musical arrangements that range from crushingly brutal to achingly delicate.

Petra Jean Phillipson first came to public attention alongside David Holmes fronting The Free Association and a string of sessions for the likes of Marianne Faithfull & Martina Topley Bird.

"At last Phillipson's moment may be about to arrive" - FINANCIAL TIMES

"wondrous and terrifying" - THE INDEPENDENT

Duke Garwood is back for 2011 with his long awaited album 'Dreamboatsafari'. Already being heralded by press including 4/5 by NME and featuring delights such as soothing 'Summer Gold', this promises to be Duke's most focussed and effective record yet.

Duke Garwood's first paid musical job was back in the late 80s playing guitar on The Orbs seminal Perpetual Dawn taken from their debut album co-produced by Youth. Nearly twenty years and many musical wanderings later Duke Garwood completed a circle by releasing an album on Youths new label Butterfly Recordings.

Garwood's first album Holy Week came out to great critical acclaim in 2005. Q magazine described it as making Will Oldham sound like Engelbert Humperdinck. His follow up Emerald Palace was recorded in a log cabin on the wooded slopes of Box Hill.
