Multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and street musician, Yann Tiersen brings the dreamy, Romantic and gorgeously-detailed sound of his latest album, Skyline, to Melbourne for one concert only.
Quietly famous in his native France until 2001, Tiersen shot to international fame with the release of the film Amelie, which he provided with a delicate, whimsical and instantly appealing musical score. Since then he has collaborated with Jane Birkin, one of the Cocteau Twins and continued to create his elegant and eclectic albums. Tiersen’s life-affirming and hook-laden music transcends genre - it’s not pop, it’s not indie and it’s not classical because, as Tiersen says: “It is not my job to define my music. To keep the enthusiasm for creating, an artist should not care about genres.”
