Perhaps the coolest thing about this show was the fact that in the middle of the long encore Connor Oberst went off for about 10 minutes about Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker's efforts to roll back, as Connor put it "100 years of Wisconsin history" by attacking worker's rights to organize. As I remember it he then went off against the efforts by the Kansas Sec. of State to help other states write anti immigrant legislation. As Connor put it "come on they mean Anti-Mexican" laws. It was nice to see an artist like this telling a sold out crowd at the Riverside that they have to vote in the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court elections to let Walker know that he is working against the people. I think he basically said "F**k that guy" a dozen times when speaking about Walker and this anti-immigant guy from Kansas! Sweet.
The show itself was quite good. I myself enjoyed the Monsters of Folk show I saw in 2009 a little bit more…
