The Ukrainians continue to mix up their winning concoction of Western punk-pop and traditional Ukrainian sounds, a blend that''s always best served live. As ''Q'' magazine says "Going to a Ukrainians gig is like being at the mother of all parties".

The Ukrainians were discovered and pioneered by the legendary BBC Radio DJ John Peel. One of their sessions for the programme was included in MOJO magazine''s ''20 Landmark Peel Sessions''.
Some of the band members have Ukrainian parents or eastern European ancestry and continue to feel a connection to the lands of their ancestors.

The themes of the songs have travelled down the generations, hitching a ride on the DNA to the present day. Yet, the band transcends geographical and political boundaries. As well as being specifically Ukrainian, their music is universal.

The band has become established as the world''s major exponent of a hybrid of traditional Ukrainian folk and Western rock music. As well as re-interpreting centuries’ old traditional Ukrainian folk classics, they''ve become notorious for "''Ukrainianised" versions'' of classic Western pop songs by T.Rex, The Sex Pistols, The Smiths, Prince and The Velvet Underground.

Their recent album, ''Live in Czeremcha'' has been acclaimed as a career high. It was followed last year by their highly acclaimed new studio album "Diaspora", which attracted rave reviews in fRoots, Rock’n’Reel and Properganda among others as their best work to date.After a memorable show last October they are returning to the 100 Club and if all goes to plan, they will unleash some new material for the first time at this gig!

The Penny Black Remedy’s symbiance of darkly comic, unpretentiously intelligent, stubbornly genre defying and catchy songs and their exhilarating live shows have been wowing audiences and promoters alike in places as far afield as London, Holland and Croatia.

Klezma Villanova are a sometimes four, sometimes five, sometimes eight, sometimes nine piece from Twickenham, West London. The band formed in 2007 in the midst of the incredible music scene that was happening in their home town... Larrikin Love, Mystery Jets, Noah and the Whale. Their music draws influences from Eastern Europe and Asia but always carries a distinctive English twist.
